The last time I posted on malls, I talked about kiosk rentals and insurance. This time I going to give you another way to look at shopping malls. All shopping malls across the country do promotional events geared to adults and kids. It could be wedding affairs, too back to school events or even a kids fair. Sometimes the malls sponsors events outside of the mall. Such as community events like kid fairs, health fairs, rodeos etc. If you are not ready to jump into the retail end of shopping malls consider this. Marketing directors all over the country are looking for new and interesting businesses like you to make their event a hit with their target consumers and tenants. You've seen these businesses at your local shopping mall. Air jumpers, balloon clowns, radio stations etc. These businesses are not doing this for free, they are being payed by the mall to provide a service to their customers and tenants. Yes tenants (Grand Openings, Remodels etc.) Once you get on this list of businesses, called the (A List) you can expect repeat business from your local mall director. When you are hired by the mall for a event the fastest way to the (A List) is to do the event in a professional manor, have a clean setup, and always have a good repore with the customers, and tenants and mall management. When you approach the mall you need to have an idea of what you will charge either a hourly fee or event fee in mind. But don't think just because the mall is big that their budget is also big. Be flexible, but don't give away your service either. These events are a gate way to make money and get visible to the public. Which means more business coming your way. If you expect to became a Rockefeller keep dreaming. But if you are looking to boost your income and promote your business this is a good way to start. If any of you tatist have any other ideas I would like to hear from you. This forum is here for all of us to learn and promote our businesses and experience.

What a great Idea ! I have working in bars now for over a year now . I charge them a flat rate for the eve. It has been very steady paid work .
Year round work with a consistant schedule. I am going to approuch the malls now with a different attitude.

When you charge by the hour do you have to guarantee that you will do so many tattoos an hour?

What about a deposit?

William - what do you charge for an evening?

the hour and I quote 20-25 tats per hour, per artist. That number is part of my calculations when determining how many artists I will need for an event, which in turn helps me determine pricing. I can typically do 25-30 or more (depending upon how we run the event) so my quote of 20-25 is a safe estimate.

...of bars that you rotate through, or do you hit the same one every night? And do you charge the same flat rate as you would any other event? And what days of the week do you do this, or only on weekends?

who does the bars. I tend to focus more on private events. I do think he said in one of his posts that he has a circuit of bars. Sounds like it could be a good thing. I had thought about it but I don't have the right social skills to successfully interact with drunk people so I decided not to try this one. My buddy in Georgia tried this an he said it worked pretty good. His only trouble was with the oqwner wanting him to do it for free.

William - I'd love to hear more of your set up and prices for bars. and do you do night clubs as well? Have you had problems seeing at night, since some bars/nightclubs have very dim lighting? thanks in advance!
