Looking for anyone that has used sillyfarm glitter (poof bottles) and eba's body shimmer.

Is the eba body shimmer more fine (closer to a powder) than the silly farm glitter?

I thought i read someone was applying eba body shimmer via the babysock method, im not 100% sure (never tried it) but it seems the silly farm glitter would not come out well enough via the baby sock route - so I was thinking the eba body shimmer must be a finer cut (more like a powder than the sillyfarm fine glitter).

Yes Shimmer powder is more like "eye shadow" and silly farm is cosmetic glitter (used for glitter tattoos and details). Never heard of the baby sock method. What are wanting to do with them or wanitng them for? Then I can tell you which to get.

Hi Bill,

Warning: this may or may not help LOL

I realize you're trying to compare two glimmer options however I was cruising this thread and felt it worthy of throwing a third option, http://www.glimmerbodyart.com into the mix.

Here's the thread http://www.tatstore.com/forum/showthread.php?p=14799#post14799 and here's a Glimmer Body Art how to video for you to view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvFSgAi8mpc.

While on Youtube related vids appear down the side of the page. I happened upon a how to glitter tat vid that uses the poof bottles and a cool 'tidy tray'. Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJqjly0WmZg&feature=related

P.S.
I couldn't imagine using the sock thing either. I used the adhesive and brush like they did in the vids.

I dig the glitter tattoo stuff but not getting into that, i just spray with my eba and as its wet poof a bit of the sillyfarm glitter on the tat, dabbing it in with the back of my finger (so it sticks to the paint more) then a quick wipe with clean towel and i get a good 80% coverage.

Eba dries faster than the older aba paints i was using so have to do it quickly or i lose the ability to have it stick though.

Wondered if i were to use the shimmer if more might stick but the glitter tattoo (glue sticky stencil brush) route is a bit different than what I do.

Might try a bit of the shimmer for fun $5 just to see if i hate it or not.. maybe in one of those powder brushes that the stuff comes out of (which i had for baby powder but now use the babysock method instead).

That is the cool thing you learn try and experiment to find what works best for you. Neat vids there of those glitter tats, just seems to messy to me.

Glitter is more messy than the shimmer powders, I personally use Mica Powders form Amerkian Body Art, I use them mainly with my face painting, but you can do Mica tats too and/or with the airbrush. They also carry black light powders, way much better than the glow ink. You can get a "sample" I think for $1.00 you just have to ask. Hope this helps.

Spoke to Jaro at eba today about the difference between their glitter and shimmer powder he told me they are one in the same, ordered up some ink and such so tossed one of the SKY color in just for fun to play with it.

The babysock method was not for glitter or shimmer. It was for applying baby power to the tattoo. I have been using babysock since I started and it works great.

Ok sorry for asking such questions but you've peaked my interest - what is the babysock method?

powder to a tattoo. You put baby powder inside of the baby sock. Tie it up with a nylon strap. Now when you have to powder you dont need to get out a brush, you grab the baby sock and pat it on the tattoo. This way you don't get a ton of powder flying all over the place and you don't have to open a powder container or worry about getting too much powder on th brush. You fill a sock up. It last quite awhile too and lot less mess.

I was hoping the shimmer powder they sell (eba) might be fine like baby powder - so in theory you could have a shimmer sock and a powder sock.

Jaro confirmed via phone the shimmer powder they sell is actually just their glitter (no difference) which I realize won't work thru any sock method.

Sorry if that caused any confusion to anyone, but i coulda swore i read about someone applying shimmer powder via the sock method but then again I read these boards at 2-3am sometimes hehe...

Jaro did give me a suggestion on applying glitter to tats using eba, since it dries faster than aba did for me, i was having a hard time with it drying before i got glitter on the tat for some larger or multicolored tats.

He said to use endura with the stencil still on (as if it was a color) but apply it to the entire tat, then apply the glitter (endura will be tacky) and then after removing the stencil to spray the entire tat and area with another quick shot of endura to "seal" the glitter in.

So I will monkey around with that on my daughters arm soon (hes sending me a small sample of endura to try it out with the order i just placed of other products).
