Can someone help me out? I currently own a gym in a small town and wish to increase my revenue. I would like to do tanning and tattoos Is this something easy for a beginner to learn and how in the world do I get started? There are so many products to choose from. Help please.

Although I can't help you with tanning questions I just posted an answer on the thread 'What should I get to begin this business?' which will give you a basic idea on what you need for equipment.

It can be easy to learn as long as you keep trying and don't just give up after the 1st try. You are a step ahead of the game if you know the color wheel, such as red and blue make purple, or blue and yellow make green.

If you have further questions feel free to give me a call.

I was using an Iwata HP BCS gun for tanning, and had tried many solutions on the market - I spent a ton on stuff I didn't care for, sticky, smelly, weird coloring, dummy me tho i could have called and gotten smaller amounts or samples!

Already had the Iwata Powerjet Pro compressor, (you need a high airflow volume for the gun i am now using), so you can't just use a small titan III with the gun I am using (the G6), but you can probably use a smaller compressor with a smaller gun like the Iwata HP BCS.

The best investment for tanning (to me) was to step upto a dedicated tanning gun. My Iwata G6 gun is night and day different than the HP BCS for tanning a full body.

I went from 15-20 min tans to about 5-8 min tans, much wider broad strokes, much less chance of missing a spot, just all around faster better experience using the G6.

The G6 nozzle is only a .6 vs .5 on my hp bcs, so at first i was thinking it woudln't do much more or be much different, BUT you get this really ovalish spray pattern adjustment with higher airflow volume - its totally designed for wider applications vs the pinpoint stuff the bcs guns do.

Which makes covering the body much faster and easier with the G6.

There are videos on the net you can watch, or go get a spray tan locally to see how they do it, everyone has different techniques and equipment, and everyone uses different solutions so finding what works for you will be some trial and error as well.

If you have a few willing friends and patience you can learn to spraytan in about a week or two, i had lots of family who volunteered till we got things dialed in and found the "right" solutions for me, but having seen and read so much about tanning (google), there are tons of options and equipment and solution preferences so id say jump in and start trying them till you find what fits for you.

After reading and reading I am thinking I might purchase an Iwata Power Jet Pro dual piston oiless airbrush compressor. Can be used as a single or dual workstation system! It also includes dual pressure gauges and dual pressure regulators, dual moisture traps, and a protective case. Kit also includes 2 air hoses, solution cIwata Premium dual-action airbrush with small solution cup and an Iwata G6 Spray Gun with two large 3 Oz solution cups and airbrush from the tanning store.
Now that I have figured out the tanning part will I be able to do airbrush tattoos with the above system
?
Why is everyone have so many guns if you have the pp?
Thanks
.

FLOTSM what did you end up deciding on for the tanning solution that you use?

Another reason you don't want a gravity feed airbrush for tats is because when you are in a hurry and you put one airbrush down to pick up another gun with a different color the gravity feed airbrush is top heavy and will tip or fall over.

Now mind you that the above info applies to a multi-gun system.

With an one gun color unit you can't use the gravity fed airbrush. It will not hook up to the unit not matter what unit you have.

the people with all the airbrushes have multi-gun systems. I used to have 3-4 guns with each of my PP's because of the ink I was using. It always gummed them up and caused problems. Now that I use EBA ink I have had the same gun on my systems for well over a month, maybe two.

By the way, I don't think your top feed guns are going to work for spraying tattoos because most of the time you have to turn the gun upside down or sideways to get the tat done. With a top feed gun I would think your ink will spill out. Maybe I'm wrong, but looking at the crazy positions I find myself in while doing tats, a top feed gun would not work for me doing tats.

I can also purchase their delux tattoo kit minus the compressor because I will already have the one from the tanning kit for $ 530 plus tanning kit for $699http://www.thetanningstore.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=ABTATDK-TA
What do you think?

What do you think?

Bahama Body by tat store is way better than Mystic thou.
it was made to pro salon specs.
also, You must protect your compressor from the spray!
either get enough airhose to put it in the next room. or a protective system. do you know what happens when a hot compressor inhales glucose? it's like putting sugar in your gas tank....
How many company's will tell you this?

Would the tattoo kit at TAT be compatable with the Iwata compressor I would be purchasing from the tanning store? I read somewhere in here that the TAT store is still working on their tanning line so I was a bit reluctant to try them.
Thanks for all your help
