I just got my 3rd email for today inquiring about booking a party! Yesterday, I got 2 requests! I got a feeling if you do private events, you might want to hold you boots on this year..... I think we are gonna be off and running!

I just got my stuff set and ready to tat but I am unsure of what to charge for a kids b-day party. Can anyone give me an idea of what to charge?

It depends on where you are located.

I recommend contacting your local magician, balloon twisting guy, face painter and clown. Compare their prices and then set your price according to theirs.

Very good advice Franco - if you don't value yourself fairly - no one else will.

I agree Franco, that's the hardest lesson I had to learn is what my talent/time is worth. Just because it comes easy for me and doesn't even feel like anything related to 'work" doesn't mean there's no or low value in it.

Another thing to consider is your time away from spraying tats...Here's an example...

I also DJ and clown

to DJ an average 5 hour wedding reception...let's say from 6pm - 11pm
unknown amout of time prepping for the event...time spent with the bride and groom...contract time...misc. consults...misc. things like purchasing of music...insurance costs...
:30 packing up the vehicle
:30 - 1:00 drive time to the event...I get there an hour early to setup up
1:00 setup time, sound checks
5hrs show time
1:00 tear down and load up vehicles
:30 - 1:00 drive time home...and unloading vehicle...

A five hour event...easily turns into a 9hour day of work...

A 1 hour clown show easily turns into about 3.5 hours of work

1 hour TAT show...easily turns into about 3.5 hours of work...once you factor in drive times, setup times, tear down times, cleaning times...

My point is...you need to work this info in when you're considering your pricing...

That's cool Candi, I'm from Southern Arkansas originally. Did alot of festivals in LA, Jazz Fest in New Orleans, did shows in Ruston, Vivian, Shreveport etc etc. Grew up about 60 miles from La Line.

Good Luck! If ya ever need any advice on doing festivals etc down there, let me know where you are and how far you're willing to go. Just email me and I'll be glad to help!

It was great weather this weekend, so I went to the local market and it made me remember wher I left off. This is a great business if you work it at all angles. Depending on what good money is to you but if you can go out on a Saturday (when the economy suppose to be so horrible) and make several hundred dollars ust imagine what it will be when the "economy" get's better. Guys make money tattooing.
